Carla Rodriguez

Carla is originally from the Dominican Republic, where she graduated from High School with IT technician and basic accounting fundamentals in small businesses in 2010. She studied Business Administration for two years between 2010 and 2012. During that time, she gained valuable experience in the financial field, working with Banco Popular in the AFP (Pension Fund Administrator). Her specialty was in the area of pension enrollment. This experience allowed her to understand the importance of financial planning and social security. 

In 2013, Carla moved to the United States and began working for ABM/Lehigh University, where she had accumulated over 11 years of experience. Throughout this period, she has developed her interpersonal skills. She has learned to engage effectively with a diverse array of individuals, who have distinct mindsets and personalities.

In 2022, Carla joined the workforce as a Steward, representing the members of Teamsters Local 773. She has completed the Steward seminar for Teamster Local 773 in 2023. She has also had the honor of being part of several committees. She is a member of the Women’s Committee of Teamsters Local 773, as well as part of the Futures Members Committee of Teamsters Local 773. She plays a key role in advocating for workers’ rights and promoting a fairer work environment.

In addition to these skills, she has gained valuable experience in contract negotiation in her role as a steward and active member of the union. This has further enhanced her ability to navigate complex professional situations.

In 2024, Carla took on the role of Trustee, which has been an important step in her commitment to the community and the well-being of the workers she represents.

In May 25, 2023, Carla completed the Lehigh Valley Activist Academy at Penn State’s School of Labor and Employment Relations. She also received a Certificate of Completion in New Officer Training and Education from the 2025 Teamsters Leadership Academy held from January 13-16, 2025.

In her personal life, Carla is a married woman and a mother of three beautiful children.

She lives in Bethlehem, PA. This city has welcomed her and provided her the opportunity to grow professionally and personally. Throughout her journey, she has learned that teamwork, dedication, and commitment are essential for achieving meaningful change in both her professional and personal life.
