Dennis Hower

President, Teamsters Local 773

Community Advocate | Labor Educator | Musician

Dennis Hower serves as President of Teamsters Local 773, based in Whitehall, Pennsylvania. A proud Teamster since 1990, Dennis began his union journey at UPS as a preloader and package car driver. Over the decades, he has climbed the ranks of Local 773, serving as Assistant Steward, Steward, Trustee, Vice President, and, since 2013, as President—a role to which he has been re-elected five times without opposition. His leadership has helped guide the Local through growth, innovation, and deeper community involvement.

Dennis holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Muhlenberg College. He has completed leadership training through the Joint Council 53 Organizing School and the Teamsters Leadership Academy on Political Action. He has also worked with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters’ Training and Grants Department as a trainer, consultant, and Associate Director, helping to develop future labor leaders.

His commitment to civic duty extends beyond the labor movement. In 2011, Dennis was elected to the Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners, where he served as President of the Board and chaired the Legal and Legislative Committee. He has long championed working-class issues at the local and state levels and is a respected voice in both labor and government circles.

Dennis is also an active community leader. He has volunteered with several nonprofits, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, Second Harvest Food Bank, and the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley. His most visible philanthropic role has been as a top fundraiser in the American Cancer Society’s Real Men Wear Pink campaign. After initially raising over $50,000 in his first campaign and dyeing his beard pink, Dennis surpassed $500,000 in total fundraising for the Men Wear Pink campaign, earning him not only accolades but a permanent ribbon tattoo inscribed with the initials of cancer warriors submitted by his supporters. His efforts have helped raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and patient support.

Outside of his union and philanthropic work, Dennis is also a musician. He plays bass guitar in the rock band Union Jack, which frequently performs at community events and charity fundraisers throughout the Lehigh Valley. Dennis lives in Whitehall with his wife, Lois, and has two children, Daniel and Juliet.
