About Matthew
Matthew Weidman has been a proud Teamster member since 1998. Before joining the full-time staff at Teamsters Local 773, he worked for nearly 20 years as a Corrections Officer at the Monroe County Correctional Facility, where he built a strong foundation in leadership, discipline, and worker advocacy.
Union Leadership & Experience
Matthew served as a Steward for 15 years at the correctional facility, proudly representing and supporting his coworkers. From 2016 to 2018, he also served as a Trustee for Teamsters Local 773. Today, Matt continues his leadership as a Business Agent, Organizer, and Political Coordinator for the Local, helping strengthen contracts, protect members, and advance labor rights.
Community Impact
Beyond his union responsibilities, Matthew founded a nonprofit benefit ice hockey team that raises donations for the Children’s Heart Foundation and multiple cancer awareness foundations. He also volunteers regularly for community events, reflecting his dedication to making a positive impact outside the workplace.
Training & Development
Matthew has completed multiple courses through the Teamster Leadership Academy focused on organizing and strong contract negotiations. He has also attended several national conferences covering Public Services, Political Coordination, and Teamster Law Enforcement/Corrections, expanding his expertise in labor representation and leadership.
Personal Life
Matthew resides in Bally, Pennsylvania, with his wife Laura and their three children, Joshua, Nora, and Jack. In his free time, he enjoys playing and coaching hockey, RVing, four-wheeling, and fishing.
